Is Emblem free?

Yes. Emblem is currently free. There are no subscriptions, no hidden fees, and no paid tiers.

Does Emblem require an internet connection?

Emblem works completely offline. An internet connection is only needed for initial license verification via Firebase Auth. All audit data is stored and processed locally.

Where is my data stored?

All data is stored locally on your machine. You choose a workspace folder during setup, and all engagement data lives within that folder as SQLite databases and JSON files. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud.

Can I use Emblem on multiple machines?

Emblem is designed for single-machine use. You can copy your workspace folder to another machine, but there is no built-in syncing or multi-user real-time collaboration.

How do I back up my data?

Simply back up your workspace folder using your preferred backup tool (cloud sync, external drive, etc.). All engagement data is contained within that folder.

How do I update Emblem?

Download the latest installer from the download page and run it. Your existing data will not be affected.

What file formats are supported for trial balance import?

The scoping module supports XLSX (Excel) and PDF imports.

Can I add custom templates?

Yes. Emblem has a template management system (accessible from the dashboard). You can upload XLSX, DOCX, and PDF templates that will be stored in your workspace and available when creating workpapers.
